Taniq is one of the few groups out today that truly knows what real music is. All of
their songs have true meaning, and in every song they perform, from the lyrics to
the melody, you’re always in for a good treat. The group’s eclectic sound alongside
live musical instruments in their tracks only adds to their unique sound. Taniq’s
debut album entitled “ The Life & Times of Love,” is full of artistic expression. The
highly anticipated album contains 11 tracks; including the current single “Breakin’
the Rules”, which appeared on an episode of ABC Family Original Series Lincoln
Heights. The track “Everything About You” shows how two people in love can love
even the smallest details about their relationships and each other. Some of the
lyrics read, “ I like everything about you. From your forehead to your pinky toe. Even
the freckles on your nose.” The disc contains the single “Hands in My Pockets”,
which speaks to the current economic state that affects so many today. The track
“Deja My Dear” gives an old jazz feel, featuring scats reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald.
The up-tempo track “Cupid Shot Me” has a modern r&b feel to it. “Scale of Sacrifice”
is a hip-hop rap song, which speaks of the daily struggle to balance all the many
pressures we face in life. The song also gets a little help from a choir near the end
of the track. The album’s title track “The Life & Times of Love” closes out the disc
with a salsa and merengue feel. Definitely check out the hip-hop/soul matrimony
that only Taniq can bring.
